Beijing: Innovative Materials in architecture

Two conferences on innovative product development in architecture were held in Beijing, with the participation of Giampaolo Imbrighi, the designer of the 2010 Expo Shanghai Italian Pavillion, (realized with a transparent cement-based material developed by Italcementi), and engineer Fortunato Zaffaroni from Italcementi.

Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD)

The Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD) is a large-scale state-owned architectural design and consulting institute established in October, 1949, following the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Every year BIAD undertakes many architectural design projects, and its total design area now amounts to over 150 million square meters.

Over the years, BIAD has built up an outstanding design team with a large number of excellent architects and engineers specialized in various fields. Since its establishment, BIAD has devoted itself to providing good quality design services, thus enjoying a good reputation in the industry. BIAD has also gradually developed its key corporate concept, “Architecture serves society”: joining hands with all circles of society, making sustained efforts to create a wonderful living environment for all human beings.
